Qur'anic verses - The first journey:

That was the beginning of Adam's journey. First, Adam and his wife, Eve, were stayed in the Garden of Eden but soon they were misguided by the Satan's first mission and slipped away from God's Guidance. At the beginning of Adam's creation, God told the angels that He "will create a vicegerent on earth." God knows that Adam will forget His Guidance and will destine to earth with all his decedents. So, it is not a surprise that Adam's stay at the Paradise was not forever. The phrase here, which is indicated by 'All ye people', is referred to Adam, Eve and all their progeny of all mankind. So, we all shall face the test as our father Adam did and everyone will be responsible for his or her deeds in the Judgment Day.

Adam's guilt was followed by God's mercy and that was part of Adam's spiritual training before starting his journey on earth.

Everyone on earth shall be tested for his or her deeds. It is either eternal felicity or humiliating punishment for those who reject God's Guidance.

Life on earth is not more than a short journey before we all stand before God in the Judgment Day.
