The Site of Badr Battle

The first battle between the believers, under the leadership of Prophet Muhammad, and the unbelievers was fought here on the battle field of Badr, 60 miles South of Madinah (towards Makkah), in 624 AD. On one side stood some 300 men, ill-armed, against the well-armed and well-equipped army of nearly one thousand of unbelievers. With God's help the believers won a splendid victory, and the Truth was established, never to be lowered again.
Surrounded by these whitewashed walls, as seen in the photograph, the place where few martyrs, who died in this battle defending the True Religion, were laid to rest.
[But God
willed to justify the Truth according to His words, and to cut off the roots of
the Unbelievers]
[Qur'an
8:7]
