Voluntary Fasting

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas

The Messenger of Allah said: If I remain alive till the next year, I will fast on the ninth (the 9th of Muharram).

The Messenger of Allah fasted on "Ashura" (the 10th of Muharram) and ordered that it should be fasted on.
