Qur'anic verses - The Concept of God:

God is a unique term from which neither gender nor plural can be formed. The implication to this is: God is the One and Only, distinguished from all creations. God is the Almighty, Creator and Sustainer of the worlds, and nothing is comparable to Him. God said [112:1-4]: "He is the One and Only; the Eternal, Absolute; ..." This statement is the essence of the monotheism faith.

He is the God of all people including the prophets such as Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon all of them)

God is the Most Gracious, Most Merciful and He is also Just. Those who suffer for His sake shall be not forgotten nor shall the oppressors be left without punishment [68:34-36]. This is why God created the Paradise for the righteous people and the Hell for who did wrong.

We should not depict God as favouring certain individuals or nations on the basis of wealth, power or race. He created the Human beings as equals. They may distinguish themselves and get His favour through virtue and piety only.

God should not be characterised in any human form nor He is subjected to the laws of nature that He created. God is eternal, not temporal, and cannot be caused. He is the "First and Last", "Evident and Immanent", these pairs of seemingly opposite qualities point to the contrast with our human frailty [57:3]. God's attributes must also be eternal and everlasting.

There can be no more than One Creator. If there are other gods, like those in the Greek Pantheon, this would have caused confusion, disorder and disunity [21:22].

Once more, the Qur'an affirms the Oneness of God in Abraham's speech [6:79]. In a search for the true God, Abraham questioned his ancestral worship then he found his spiritual enlightenment beyond the heavenly bodies and the stars and set his face towards God Who created the heavens and the earth. Abraham's allegory in search for God was a unique example of knowing God by common sense and logic.

God alone Who deserves to be worshipped, and thus abstains from worshipping any other thing or being.
