be pleased with him) narrated that God's
Messenger (peace be upon him) said: |

"Recite the Qur'an for on the
Day of Resurrection it will come as an intercessor for those who recite it." |

Resurrection. the Qur'an and those who acted according to it will be

pleading for the one who recited them." |

"The example of a
believer who recites the Qur'an and acts on it is like a citron
which tastes and smells nice. And the believer who does not recite
the Qur'an is like a date which tastes good but has no smell. And
the example of a hypocrite who recites the Qur'an is like the
basil which smells good but tastes bitter.
And the example of a hypocrite who does not recite the Qur'an is
like the colocynth which tastes bitter and has no smell." |

God's Messenger [peace be upon him) said: |

"By this Book, God
exalts some people and lowers others." |

pleased with them) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him)
said: |

"Do not wish to be
except like one of two men. A man whom God has given the knowledge
of the Qur'an and
he recites it during the hours of the night and during the hours of
the day. and a man whom God has given money and he spends it (in
giving charity) during the night and the day." |

| Al-Baraa' ibn 'Azib
(may God be pleased with them) narrated: |
|
A man was reciting
Surah Al-Kahf and his horse was tied with two ropes beside him. A
cloud came down and spread over that man, and it kept on coming
closer to him till his horse started to startle of it. When it was morning, the man came to the Prophet (peace
be upon him) and told him about that incident. The Prophet (peace be
upon him) said: "That is tranquillity descended
for (reciting) the Qur'an." |

nothing of the Qur'an within him is like a ruined house." |

| 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr
ibn Al-'Aas
(may God be pleased with them) narrated that
God's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: |

"It would be said
to the companion of the Qur'an: Read and scale (to Paradise), recite
as you used to do in the underworld. Your abode wiil be where you
finish reciting the last verse of your recitation." |

| 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir (may
God be pleased with him) narrated that: |
|
When we were in the
Suffa, God's Messenger (peace be upon him) came out and asked:
"Which of you would like to go out every morning to Buthan or Al-
'Aqiq and bring two large humped she-camels without being guilty of
sin or severing ties of relationship?" We replied: Messenger of God,
we would all like that. He said: "Does not one of you go out in the
morning to the mosque and teach or recite two verses of God's Book?
That is better for him than two she-camels,
and three verses are better for him than three she-camels, and four
verses are better for him than four she-camels, and so on than their
numbers in camels." |

most versed in God's Book should act as Imam for the people." |

The Prophet (peace be
upon him) put two men killed in Uhud in one grave. He asked who most
acted according to the Qur'an. He who was pointed to
was buried first in the grave. |

'Imran ibn Husain
(may God be pleased with him) narrated that
when he came upon a reader who was reciting the Qur'an and then
asking for payment he told that reader that he had heard God's
Messenger (peace be upon him) say: |

"When anyone recites
the Qur'an, let him ask reward for it from God, for (in the future)
there will come a people who will recite the Qur'an and ask a reward
for it from men." |

who said: "It is a good Hadith" |

| Ibn Mas'ud (may God
be pleased with him) narrated: God's Messenger (peace be upon him)
said: |
|
"If anyone recites a
letter of God's Book. he will be credited with a good deed, and a
good deed gets a tenfold reward. I do not say: A.L.M. is a letter,
but Alif(A) is a letter, Laam(L) is a letter and Meem(M) is a
letter." |
