Qur'anic verses - The Right to Freedom:

Human freedom is as sacred as life itself. Islam protects human freedom of individuals and communities, and encourages friendly relationships among all people:
And made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that
ye may despise (each other).

The Islamic state has the duty to support others who are striving for their freedom:
The blame is only against those who oppress men and wrong-doing and insolently
transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there
will be a penalty grievous..

According to Article 1 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights, resolution 217 A (III) of 10 December 1948:
[All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.]
On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
