Qur'anic verses - The Sun's life cycle:

The Sun, likewise other stars and the entire Universe, has a life cycle. Unlike the 'Steady State Theory' which was suggested in 1948 and stated that the Universe would not change, the Sun will not remain in its current status forever. The original translation by Yusuf Ali implies a time limit: "For a period determined". Dr Maurice Bucaille suggests a further restriction in terms of space: "To a settled place". The original Arabic text does not specify either limits, but it is obvious that any action requires both limits: time and space. However, cosmological theories in modern times confirm the fact that the Universe undergoes continuous change. It is possible for scientists to observe older Stars in our galaxy, the Milky Way, and upon that it is concluded that the Sun is likely to pass through similar changes. The continuous transformation of hydrogen into helium and energy will not continue forever. This process will eventually decrease and lead to a reduction of energy that the Sun produces. Consequently, the Sun will turn into a more dense and cool star in the last stage of its life cycle.

It is apparent, that the modern science and all proposed English translations of the original Arabic text of this Qur'anic verse, in this respect, are in one harmony. There is nothing in the text of the Qur'an that contradicts the fact about the Sun motion. Unlike some other old beliefs, the Qur'an never fell into the trap of myths. The Qur'an's precision in describing a universal phenomenon reflects its divine nature and, as such, all its content is of divine origin.
