Qur'anic verses - The Sun - source of light:

The Qur'an clearly ascribes precise terms to each of the Moon and Sun in terms of light. The Sun is being the source of light, as a lamp, and the moon illuminates and reflects light. At no time, these terms are confused in the Qur'an. God said:

It is He Who made the sun to be a shining glory and the moon to be a light.
[Qur'an
10:5]

This expression would not be there in the Qur'an if it was written by men, or by inspiration rather than revelation. Neither it would be logically possible to utilise terms never understood or even concerned generations of the first millennium. But it is He God Who chose to reveal what is challenging to the generations of all time and to ever remind us in His perfect and splendid creation.

Whereas the Bible calls both the Sun and Moon light. No exact term is found to differentiate between the source of light that comes from the Sun, or its reflection on the Moon surface. For example, in the Psalms 148:3 and Isaiah 30,26 both the Sun and Moon are called light, whilst in Revelation 21: 23 they are to be shine. The poetic style of the Bible in describing the Sun and Moon light could be well adopted in the Qur'an if its author was a man.
