God, the Exalted, commanded His Messenger, peace be upon him, when he was asked about the time of the Last Hour (or the Day of Judgement), to refer its knowledge to God alone:

يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِندَ رَبِّي لاَ يُجَلِّيهَا لِوَقْتِهَا إِلاَّ هُوَ
(الأعراف 187)

They ask you about the Hour - when will be its appointed time? Say: "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord (alone): None but He can reveal its time.
[Qur'an 7:187]

The time of the Last Hour and so our last breath in this life are hidden from us to allow every soul an equal chance to live either in conformity with God's commandments or follow the wrong ways:

إِنَّ السَّاعَةَ ءاَتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْزَى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا تَسْعَى
(طه 15)

Verily the Hour is coming. I will to keep it hidden, that every soul may be rewarded for that which it to achieve.
